Sponsor-a-Child
Zambia has one of the poorest education systems in the world; going to school is a luxury not everyone can afford.
Yet education is the best way to disrupt the poverty cycle – through education, we can transform our families and communities for the better!
Our Sponsor-a-Child program provides the opportunity for vulnerable children in the community to attend preschool; the program can only be a success with your support!
By sponsoring a child, you are providing them with everything they need for the school year. The sponsorship cost per child is US$450 per year. This includes their school fee, uniform, books, a daily healthy meal, teachers, security, water, electricity, computer literacy, and endless learning resources. Throughout the year will receive four updates on your sponsored child’s progress and achievements.

Testimonials

Memory, Lydia's Mother
“I’m so blessed to have received sponsorship for my daughter at Baobuyu, as it has allowed her to have the best education that I could every imagine.”

Frankie, Given's Sponsor
“Having had the opportunity to be part of the sponsorship programme at Baobuyu is one of the greatest privileges I have had. To be able to support children in a completely different part of the world and contribute to their education is a feeling unlike any other and something that I would recommend to anyone who is able to do so. Each term, as sponsors, we receive updates on both the child we have sponsored and Baobuyu and seeing their progress just fills my heart with joy. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit Baobuyu twice over the past two years and seeing firsthand the amazing work that Tammy and all the teachers, staff and interns do are moments and experiences I will cherish forever; but seeing the pure happiness of all of the students and the opportunities they have been given are some of the most special moments I’ve ever experienced in my life. If you are in a position to sponsor a Baobuyu student, I cannot recommend it enough. It is a decision you will never regret and will fill your heart in ways you didn’t know where possible.”

Libonga, Evelyn’s mother
“Today I woke up with gratitude in my heart. My child is counting numbers, singing songs and doing a lot of new things. I am a proud mother because of what my child has become. Thank you for giving my child a chance. Thank you for the love. May God bless your generosity. I can’t thank you enough.”

Tina, Lydia's Sponsor
“It’s honestly the thing I’m most proud of in my life. It’s definitely the best $450 I spend all year because I know how much of a direct impact it’s having on the school, and on Memory and Lydia.”

Likenge, Annah’s mother
“Sponsorship means a lot to our family, it has not only taught my child English but also instilled the importance of education and empowerment. Annah comes home every day telling the family what she has learned, and even teaching us her homework! There is so much joy in my heart seeing Annah grow and learn here at Baobuyu. Annah’s love for school has motivated me to work harder in our family business. I am very thankful for this program and all it has done for our family.”

Precious, Rashid’s mother
“Baobuyu has been a big help for Rashid! Before, he was a quiet boy and knew very little, now he is so clever and smart, loves singing, and even teaches his brothers at home counting and the alphabet. Because of Baobuyu, Rashid has also become a role model for our entire family. We’re grateful for this sponsorship program that has empowered Rashid to learn, teach, and express himself confidently, and we see a bright future ahead. I will greatly miss Baobuyu when he moves on to Grade 1. I am incredibly grateful.”

Mike, Dorothy’s father
“Baobuyu and the sponsorship here has taught me the value of education, motivating me to continue to support and value the future of education for my daughter. My life has changed as I have discovered the purpose in life, to encourage Dorothy to be independent and educated. She loves school, and there is joy and peace in our lives because she is happy and learning. I am very grateful for this opportunity for my daughter.”

Anne, Abel's Sponsor
“It’s a great feeling to know you can give an opportunity to have a good start to life and do something for people who are less fortunate. I love Zambia and believe in the power of education. I believe education can make the world better. It is always so nice to be able to come visit Baobuyu and my sponsor child and my father’s sponsored child. They come running to say hello every time, it’s healing and heartwarming.”

Lister, Gift’s mother
“I see the improvement in my child. He knows how to play, share things with others, and the importance of healthy eating at a small age. I thank the sponsorship we are given at Baobuyu. The teacher’s skills help the students master the things they need to learn.”
