We got solar!
Our Goal

We aim to raise $6500 USD to install a full solar system that can power our borehole well, industrial sewing machines, fridges and freezers, lights, fans and community center!

This includes solar panels, batteries, inverters, and installation.
Why Solar?
Since our doors opened in 2016, our center has established several community initiatives and sustainable projects to address pressing problems in education, food and water security, and gender inequality. However, the drought and electricity crisis in Zambia since 2023 has hindered our community development operations and access to clean water.
We are excited to announce that Baobuyu is raising funds for a solar system for our school and community center!
The ongoing drought and electricity crisis have significantly impacted our work, making solar power essential to:

Support our Women's Sewing Circle, ensuring they have access to valuable hour of work and promote economic empowerment

Provide uninterrupted meals and education for our preschool by ensuring food is stored safely in our fridges and freezers, and provide much-needed fans all day long to cool down during the hot season.

Maintain access to clean water for our students and the community, by powering our bore hole 24/7 that serves everyone who walks through out gate
